Free Antivirus with built in anti-spyware represents the best FREE antivirus protection currently available on the market. This edition is free for non-commercial & home use only.

VLC Player

VLC Player

VLC is a free, open source multimedia player that plays most multimedia files as well as DVD, Audio CD, VCD, and various streaming protocols. Highly recommended over Windows Media Player!



Originally a music player, Winamp has become a fairly good mulitmedia player which allows you to listen, watch and manage music, video, podcasts and internet radio on your desktop and devices.

Faststone Viewer

FastStone Image Viewer

An image browser, converter and editor that supports all major graphic formats and camera raw files. It has a nice array of features such as image viewing, management, comparison, red-eye removal, emailing, resizing, cropping, color adjustments, musical slideshow and much more.

Open Office

Open Office

The leading open-source office software suite for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics, databases and more. It's an excellent alternative to Microsoft Office and it can even read and write files in Office formats!



A free open source, cross-platform e-mail and news client developed by the Mozilla Foundation. A good alternative to Microsoft's Outlook or Outlook Express.



The fix-all archiving/un-zipping program. It basically fills in all the gaps in your system's compression abilities. Multi-file RAR packages, Mac-formatted archives, and even ISO images can all be opened.



When it comes to image manipulation, there’s really only two options right now: Photoshop and GIMP. GIMP doesn’t quite capture the usability and polish of Adobe’s offering, but its totally free! A lot cheaper than $700 or so that Photoshop will run you.

Foxit Reader

Foxit PDF Reader

A free lightweight application that replaces Adobe Reader for reading PDF files. The program launches faster than Reader! Just be careful when you installing to uncheck the toolbar and eBay icon options.

Cogeco Cable

Offers speeds up to 50 Mbps at a fair monthly price but be warned, the extra usage charges add up fast!


Bell Canada

DSL & Fibre-optic offerings with speeds up to 25 Mbps and decent monthly rates. Again there are limits on the transfer usage.


Rogers Mobile Internet

High speed and wireless mobile internet access wherever you go. Plans include monthly and pre-paid options, but be sure to read the fine print as we've been told extra usage is very expensive!


Galaxy Broadband

High speed satellite internet service, no matter where you are. Galaxy owns its own Hub offering the only Canadian-based Satellite Internet platform.

Cable Cable

Cable Cable

Local company offering high speed cable and wireless internet packages. Worth a serious look if you are located within their area of coverage.



Another company offering DSL, Cable and Wireless services depending on your location. Good rates.



Offers DSL and dial-up plans for anyone who still cannot access high speed.



This DSL based ISP offers packages with speeds up to 25 Mbps. They have an unlimited usage package! The prices are good too! Highly recommended!



Wireless and satellite connections allows access to rural and remote customers who would otherwise have no access to high-speed Internet. Xplornet offers home and business packages at speeds up to 5mbps.



High speed internet for rural customers! Operates at up to 7 Mbps through wireless connections. Requires an installation fee of $99.

Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer

The most widely used browser, as it comes bundled with Windows. We don't recommend it as it suffers from security issues.


Mozilla Firefox

A free and open source web browser. As of March 2011, Firefox is the second most widely used browser, with approximately 30% of worldwide usage share.


Google Chrome

Developed by Google, as of July 2011, Chrome was the third most widely used browser, according to Stat Counter.



Developed by Apple for the Mac OS now has a version that supports Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7.



Another alternative browser offered free of charge for personal computers and mobile phones.
